FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know.
Is this copy trading?
Not today. Coattails publishes the same screener reads, strategy research and investor-filing data to every user. Following a strategy means watching its signals; nothing trades for you, and nothing is tailored to your finances. Bring-your-own-broker strategy following is on the roadmap and launches only after legal review.
Do I keep control of my funds?
Yes, absolutely. Coattails is a signals and research platform — we never hold, custody, or have access to your funds. Any trading you do happens in your own brokerage account, on your own decisions. If automated execution launches in the future, trading would still occur only in your own account.
How are portfolios constructed?
Portfolios aren't available yet. Today you get signals, screening and research, and you make every trade. Model portfolios are in development; when they launch they'll be identical for every subscriber.
Can I customize allocations?
Not yet. Portfolio tools are in development, and nothing on the platform is tailored to your finances. Join the waitlist to hear when they ship.
Is trading automated?
Not yet. Automated execution and broker connectivity are on our roadmap and are subject to regulatory clearance — they are not available today. Right now, Coattails provides signals, screening, and analytics; what you do with them is entirely your decision, in your own brokerage account.
What brokerages are supported?
No broker integrations are live today. We are evaluating integrations with major US brokerages as part of our roadmap. Join the waitlist to be notified when your preferred broker is supported.
What is the minimum investment?
Coattails itself requires no minimum — the screener is free to use. How much you choose to invest through your own brokerage account is entirely up to you and should reflect your own financial situation and risk tolerance.
How do I track performance?
Your dashboard tracks the signals and strategies you follow, including score history and strategy-level analytics. Strategy performance figures shown on Coattails are backtested or simulated unless explicitly labeled otherwise — see our Disclosures page for important limitations of hypothetical performance.
